General overview of the role

Inflection is seeking a full-time Data Engineer who will be responsible for building, maintaining and integrating the data pipelines for Inflection’s background checking products.

For over ten years, Inflection has sourced and analyzed billions of public records to create fair and innovative solutions to help companies make better and faster decisions about who they should hire and who they should trust.

The Company’s flagship business, GoodHire, currently provides employment screening solutions to more than 80,000 companies across the US. Launched in 2013, GoodHire has consistently led the market with our intuitive, thoughtful, and user-focused designs.


Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines to integrate into Inflection’s products
Contribute to the design of new product offerings based on research, data experiments and data analytics
Recommend different ways to constantly improve data reliability and quality
Develop standards for testing the end-to-end data pipelines efficiently
Support software development life cycle for data integration into the products including requirements analysis, design, development, testing and deployment


Bachelor’s Degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or related field
2+ years of experience in data engineering
Familiarity with building data solutions in a cloud-native environment (AWS preferred)
Experience with the design, implementation and debugging of applications in object oriented languages
Experience with standard development tools for bug tracking, version control, monitoring and cloud-based deployments
Experience with a variety of data technologies and structures that includes relational databases and NoSQL
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with building and maintaining service oriented architectures is a plus
