Game Analyst profession

The tasks of the game analyst include collecting and analysing data, his goal is to make the game successful in the market. He works closely with a game designer to translate raw data into business terms that he can understand.

Here is one of the typical problems that they solve together on the regular basis.  A new game has been launched, there is a strong growth of new registrations, but the players fist reach a certain level and afterwards stop playing. Game Analyst and Game Designer needs to find from where coming the problem which is causing this dropout.

A game analyst studies the behaviour of players by using special tools and identifies bottlenecks in the project. Very often the reason is a poorly created level with high difficulty and a low number of victories for the users. Sometimes it turns out to be boring for the players, most gamers can’t pass this level, so they just stop to play the game. The collected data is transmitted to the Game Designer with the request to simplify the level or make it more fun. Another nuisance can be the wrong place to display ads, which leads to the loss of the users. By correcting this error, you can achieve that players will watch ads because they do not want to lose the levels they have already passed.

If we consider the analysis of team games, the tasks here are even more difficult and interesting. It is necessary to take into account the psychology of the players, to track the ease, or vice versa, the difficulties of their interaction. Ideally, players should be completely immersed in the game world and communicate closely with other users. Often, game analyst gives instructions to the engine developers and game designers to insert new features for better communication between players.
