General overview of the role

Latch is seeking a Firmware QA Engineer (Manual), to work with the Firmware, Test Engineering & Support Engineering team.

You will execute manual firmware test cases against existing products and products which are currently in development. The position entails the ability to uncover and investigate defects, discover root causes of issues, generate reports, and to accurately document for later regression testing.

Executing firmware test cases/procedures against embedded systems and products
Communicating test problems with engineering (software, firmware, and hardware) and business operations team members

Perform different types of testing, such as: functional, regression, performance, integration, as well as test support for alpha, beta and production testing
Understand product requirements in case to ensure high quality as well as great user experience
Report and track bugs and debug uncovered problems
Identify potential problems users may encounter
Participate in a process to determine product quality and release readiness


An understanding of testing, software release engineering, build management including source control, bug tracking, and system level testing for product release to customers
2+ years of test experience in firmware, software, systems and integration testing
Experience with testing different Wireless and Bluetooth technologies
Experience in direct collaboration with UX, Product and Development experts Extensive experience with bug/issues tracking tools such as JIRA, etc.
Effective communication skills
Experience with version control such as Git and GitHub
Experience with running automated test suites is a plus
