General overview of the role
We are looking to hire a mid to senior level full stack Javascript/Python web developer, with a particular interest in front end development to begin work as soon as possible. The work will be focused upon our data harmonisation project for UNAIDS, The AIDS Data Repository (https://adr.unaids.org). The system is an implementation of CKAN and the frontend is built with Python, Jinja2 and JQuery. Other work for the United Nations may include supporting public health surveillance in places of humanitarian crisis, maintenance and development of interactive data dashboards built with the python project Superset, and Python based data collection and analysis using Anaconda tools.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of new system features that solve meaningful problems.
Take particular responsibility for the delivery and quality control of user experience.
Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain high-quality software.
Review the code written by others on the team, mentoring them where appropriate.
Further establish and refine internal best practices and coding conventions.
Communicate with project stakeholders concerning delivery and review of our work.
Find creative ways to use technology to harmonize the world's public health data.
Contribute to company development, sales and growth where possible.
Requirements
Technologies and Experience | The applicant must have experience with the following technologies:
Python Flask and Jinja2
Javascript (JQuery, React, confidence with other frameworks desirable)
CSS/HTML/Web development
Docker
Git
It is also essential that the applicant can demonstrate leveraging these technologies against:
Git version-controlled software development best practises
Delivery of professional web-based user interfaces
Architecting and designing full-stack features from scratch
The following technologies will be a plus:
Specific Python libraries: CKAN, Superset, Pandas
Specific Javascript libraries: Leaflet, Mapbox, Highcharts, D3
SQL (PostgreSQL)
